Dance nationals in Orlando was amazing. It started on Thursday morning with our Pre-Qual round and went all the way to Sunday.
We took 5 routines. Each routine went twice (once during the Pre-Qual round and then during the National round).
Here are the breakdowns.
Leaping high, Shenoah danced with a fierce energy with her routine “Soldier” and danced her way through the fierce beats of the Mulan’s “Be a Man” track. For her efforts she scored a Gold in the Primary Shakers Novice Division in both rounds.
Alea gave us a crisis of conscience in her Pointe piece “Fates.” Her routine was entered in the Student Choreography category and took Gold in the Senior Competitive Division in both rounds.
Switching styles for her second solo of the dance season, Jasmine brought some hip hop funk to the stage with her routine with music from “Let It Shine. Her routine was also entered into the Student Choreography category.
She took Gold in the Pre-Qual round and High Gold in the National round.
Jasmine placed 2nd High Overall in Senior Novice division in the Pre-Qual round and 4th High Overall in Senior Novice division in the National round.
Keeping with our studio’s theme of Disney Magic, Alea, Jasmine and Shenoah moved like the wind, showing their brilliant dance moves with their routine Colors. The music, “Colors of the Wind” wove a magical spell on the audience and brought a gentle softness to the stage.
Colors took gold in both rounds in the Duo/Trio Junior Intermediate Division.
Colors placed 1st Overall in the Pre-Qual round.
Rounding out our routines was the small group routine, Jump.
This hip hop routine rocked old school moves with jump rope tricks to music from the movie, “Jump In.”
Kisha, Marisa, Jasmine, Alea, and Amanda danced their way to Gold in the Pre-Professional Intermediate Division in both rounds.
Jump took 1st High Overall in the Pre-Qual round and 2nd High Overall in the National round.
