2018 Competition News #2: BravO! Dance Talent Competition

We competed on Saturday, May 12 and Sunday, May 13 at the 2018 BravO! Dance Talent Competition in Tampa, Florida. With a total of five routines, we were eager to jump in and test our mettle. Here’s how we fared.

Saturday, May 12

First up was our trio. Set to a medley of songs from Disney’s “Newsies,” the ladies hit the stage and took the audience on a journey through the highlights of the movie. With the routine titled, “Read All About,” the judges got the memo and the girls went home with High Gold and a 2nd Place Overall finish in the Teen Overture (novice) Division.

Sunday, May 13

Our remaining four routines for the event were all solos. We kicked it off early in the morning and capped it off at night.

Shenoah hit the stage with her routine “Solider” and danced her way through the fierce beats of the Mulan’s “Be a Man” track. For her efforts she scored a High Gold in the Junior Overture Division.

Alea added some sassy and a healthy dose of “fun” evil for her interpretation of “Poor Unfortunate Souls.” With full jazz flair she took an Elite High Gold in the Senior Encore (intermediate) Division.

Making her debut on the competitive stage, Jasmine stole her way into an intense contemporary piece with music from the Guardians of the Galaxy. And just like a “Thief” she left the audience searching for even more drama. She grabbed a High Gold and a 4th Highest Overall placement in the Senior Overture (novice) division.

Rounding out the night with her return to the competitive stage after five years was Ms. Kisha and her contemporary solo, “Searching.” She gave an emotional performance to the Mulan track, “Reflection.” She took an Elite High Gold and a 1st Overall High placement in the Adult Bravo (advance) division.
